Radha Naam Jap (राधा नाम जप) is the sacred spiritual practice of repeatedly chanting the holy name of Radha Rani (राधा रानी) — the supreme devotee and eternal consort of Lord Krishna. The word "Jap" (जप) means repetition, and "Naam" (नाम) means name — so Radha Naam Jap literally means "repetition of Radha's name."
In the tradition of Radha Krishna bhakti, Radha holds a unique and exalted position. She is not merely a devotee — she is the Hladini Shakti (ह्लादिनी शक्ति), the divine pleasure potency of Krishna himself. All of creation's joy, love, and bliss flow from Radha. The Brahma Vaivarta Purana and Garga Samhita describe Radha as inseparable from Krishna: just as fragrance cannot be separated from a flower, Radha cannot be separated from Krishna.
In Gaudiya Vaishnavism, founded by Chaitanya Mahaprabhu (who is himself considered the combined form of Radha and Krishna), devotion to Radha is regarded as the highest form of spiritual practice. Chaitanya taught that Prema Bhakti — pure, selfless divine love as embodied by Radha — is the ultimate goal of human life. In Vrindavan and the Braj region, the name "Radhe Radhe" (राधे राधे) echoes from every temple, every street corner, and every heart. It is not just a greeting but a living spiritual practice.
Great saints of the Radha bhakti tradition include Meera Bai (who saw Krishna as Radha's beloved), Jayadeva (who composed the Gita Govinda celebrating Radha-Krishna love), Nimbarka, Vallabhacharya, and the Ashtachhap poets of the Pushti Marg. Each of them taught that Radha is the gateway to Krishna — to reach Krishna, one must first win the grace of Radha Rani.
The most revered mantras used in Radha Naam Jap are:
Whether you call it Radha Naam Jap, Radhe Radhe Jap (राधे राधे जप), Radha Krishna Mantra Jap (राधा कृष्ण मंत्र जप), or Radha Rani Ki Bhakti (राधा रानी की भक्ति) — the essence is the same: surrendering to Radha's infinite love and, through her grace, attaining the divine presence of Krishna.
